MRL #093- 9 Spicy Trump-esque Takes On Producing

In honor of the always-controversial and newly elected president, Donald Trump, we decided to share a few of our own controversial takes (about producing).

Enjoy.

1) Networking Is NOT Necessary

If you’re the gregarious type and you enjoy shaking hands and kissing babies, go for it.

If it’s not your thing, no worries.

You don’t need to do it to be successful in this biz.

2) Cold Calling Is A Must

Contrary to popular belief, cold calling is not dead.

Until you get to a few hundo in revenue, it should be your primary means of prospecting.

Ignoring your phone is a fast-track to failure.

3) Quoting Should Be Treated As A Privilege

99% of the time, blindly quoting is a giant waste.

It ties up your agency’s time and resources.

We think new Producer’s should demonstrate they can qualify prospects and opportunities before being allowed to quote.

Until then, it’s BOR only.

4) Insureds Don’t Care Who You Work For

Insureds buy from you, not the logo on your shirt.

Your agency’s kool-aid might taste delicious to you, but insured’s couldn’t care less about it.

  • Do you care about me?

  • Can you solve my problem?

  • Will you answer when I call?

That’s all they care about.

Sell YOU, not the kool-aid.

5) Pursuing A $1M Book Is A Silly Goal

Same with $5,000,000, $10,000,000 etc.

Optimize for freedom and autonomy not an arbitrary status symbol.

When you’re dead your kids won’t care how much money you made.

But, they will care if you were present for them or not.

6) Your Agency Is Not Your Family

Family doesn’t fire you when you don’t produce.

Family doesn’t sell you out for money.

Family doesn’t lay you off if money’s tight.

Your agency is your employer.

Nothing more, nothing less.

7) You Cannot Social Media Your Way To Validation

Start a podcast, start writing on LinkedIn, start posting on YouTube if you want.

But, don’t think any of it’s going to validate you.

You’re going to have to pick up the phone or knock on doors in the beginning.

The clock is ticking and social media takes time.

8) Social Media Is A Beauty Contest

For most of us, social media is a conversion tool not a lead gen tool.

Meaning, it can be a valuable tool for prospects to vet you out after you reach out to them with manual outbound.

But, you’re probably not gonna generate a ton of revenue from your riveting insurance content.

The only Producers I know who are… are very attractive females.

Sorry, but it’s the truth.

9) Most Goo-Roos Are Clueless & Don’t Even Know It

Most goo-roos selling you “how-to” products have never seen behind the curtains.

They’re all either at small shops or have never sold insurance in the first place.

They’ve never seen guys with $5M, $10M, $15M+ books. Nor, do they have any idea how to do it.

There’s levels to this game and most are clueless past the $1M mark.

……..

Ok, that’s enough pot-stirring from us.

Make Producers Great Again!

Kick ass take names,
