MRL #002- How To Set Sales Goals You Actually Achieve
Happy Sunday,
Welcome to the second issue of the Max Revenue Letter.
Mid-terms are here. Make sure you get out and cast your vote on Tuesday. Many a man has died to give you that opportunity.
Regardless of what side you’re pulling for, I think we can both agree that writing more new business is a winning platform.
So, let’s discuss how to reliably and predictably put some more cash in your pocket.
How To Set Sales Goals You Actually Achieve
#1. Write down your goal
Want to write $100k in revenue next year?
Write it down.
Write it on an index card in big black sharpie. Pin it next to your computer so you see it everyday.
Writing down your goals makes them real and holds you accountable.
#2. Break down your goal into daily tasks
Your goal is just the starting point.
Next, break your goal down into manageable daily tasks.
The key here is to know your prospecting numbers. For example:
How many clients do you need to land to hit that $100K?
How many meetings will it take to land that many clients?
How many decision makers will you need to talk with to schedule that many meetings?
How many cold calls (or drop-ins) will it take to speak with that many decision makers?
Now, take the number of calls you need to make and divide it by the number of work days in the year.
Boom. Now you have your daily tasks.
#3. Block off time each day to accomplish said tasks
It’s easy to get sucked into what the day throws at you. There’s always a fire to put out or an app to fill.
Thats why you must schedule the time in your calendar, and fill in your other to-do’s around it.
This time is sacred. It must come before all else.
I recommend scheduling your call block first thing in the morning. It sets the tone for the day.
Plus, it’s a great feeling when you finish because you’ve gotten the most important work done and you still have your whole day to do whatever you want.
Here’s what my morning calendar looks like:
#4. Execute daily tasks no matter what
Decided you need to make 30 calls a day to hit your $100K goal?
Good. Now, get it done. No excuses.
Your call block is already inked into your calendar, so whatever pops up can wait or be scheduled for later.
Your call block is the most important work you can do.
Treat is as such.
It’s actually quite freeing and relieves so much unnecessary stress.
Think about it…
If you just do the work today that you’ve already committed to doing—your success is inevitable.
Numbers don’t lie, my friend.
Ok, that’s it for today.
In next week’s letter I’ll share my prospecting numbers with you, so you’ll know what targets you should be shooting for.
See you next Sunday.
Kick ass take names,
