MRL #077- The Secret To Winning

Not sure if you’re a golf fan…

But if you are…

How awesome was the final round of the US Open, today?

In case you missed it…

Bryson DeChambeau won the tournament in an 18 hole fight to the death with Rory McIlroy.

DeChambeau overcame a 2 shot deficit with 4 holes to play (after starting the day with a 2 stroke lead) AND arguably the best bunker shot in PGA history on the 18th hole to make it happen.

As I watched, I couldn’t help but notice the similarities between DeChambeau gutting out the win and what it takes to win in ProducerLand…

Dogged determination…

Unwillingness to be denied…

Fighting, scraping, and clawing to the bitter end.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my six years as a Producer it’s that…

Winning In This Industry Is Hard

Nothing comes easy…

The competition is fierce…

And you have to fight, scrap, and claw for every dollar of revenue.

Circling back to the US Open…

The tournament was not won with the best bunker shot in PGA history…

Nor was it won by starting a couple strokes ahead on the last day…

The tournament was won one hole at a time.

Grinding it out shot by shot…

Hanging in even when things didn’t go DeChambeau’s way.

There’s a million ways to lose a major tournament and there’s a million ways to lose a deal in insurance.

But the secret to winning is by hanging…

By taking the next shot…

By staying the course…

Even if it’s an unorthodox style like Bryson DeChambeau’s.

You just gotta keep making shots knowing that the next shot might be the miraculous bunker shot that wins the tournament…

Or puts the $50k revenue deal on the books.

So stay in the game…

Take your lumps…

But for goodness sake, fight, and keep shooting your shot.

Happy Father’s Day to all the men out there who are producing for their families.

Oh…

And if you’re looking for help with your golf swing I got nothing for you.
